During Williams Baptist College’s commencement ceremony, Dr. Gary Hollingsworth of Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock was presented with the college’s 2013 Distinguished Baptist Minister Award.

Sheriff: Searching for suspect possibly headed to Illinois

LAWRENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – Craighead County dispatch says authorities throughout Region 8 are on the lookout for a man traveling on a stolen vehicle.

They say the man is believed to be traveling in silver Ford Mustang with a black top.

They say he is from Lawrence County and might be headed to Illinois.

At the moment, authorities could not confirm if the man is considered dangerous.

Compassionate Friends to host balloon release

Compassionate Friends to host balloon release

 

The Compassionate Friends of Northeast Arkansas will have a balloon release at noon Saturday, May 18, at the Paragould Fairgrounds.

The non-profit organization provides support, love, encouragement and hope to those who have lost a child, grandchild or sibling.

Everyone is invited to come out and participate in the release which will be held at the main stage of this year’s Loose Caboose.

Levon Helm documentary to debut at TheArtsAt311

 

TheArtsAt311 will host the Arkansas premiere of Ain’t in It for My Health: A film about Levon Helm on Wednesday, May 15, at 7:30 p.m.

Helm, who was the drummer for The Band, was born in Elaine, AR, and grew up in Turkey Scratch.

The film, directed by Jacob Hatley, documents the making of Helm’s first studio album in 25 years, the Grammy Award-winning Dirt Farmer  and the subsequent resurgence of his career that continued until his death of cancer on April 19, 2012.

Dr. Timothy Maryanov has joined the medical staff at St. Bernards Neurosurgery.

The holder of a medical degree from the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine, he earned an undergraduate degree in neuroscience and psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
