The devil went down to Georgia, but Charlie Daniels is coming to Jacksonport State Park.
The Newport Area Chamber of Commerce announced Friday that the Charlie Daniels Band and Craig Morgan will be the featured performers at the 31st Annual Portfest "Rollin' on the River" Festival.
On June 1, the Charlie Daniels Band will take the stage. Daniels, who has been an icon for more than 50 years, is a master fiddle player. In 1979 he won a Grammy Award for his iconic hit "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." Daniels and his band have earned awards from the Gospel Music Association, the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music.
Tickets for June 1 are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate. Children six and under get in free.
Craig Morgan will be the headliner on Saturday, June 2. Morgan's string of Billboard hits includes "Redneck Yacht Club," "Almost Home" and "That's What I Love about Sunday."
Tickets to Morgan's concert are $10 in advance and at the gate before 4 p.m. The price is $15 at the gate after 4 p.m. Kids six and under will be admitted free.
Tickets to both shows go on sale in mid-April.
In addition to the concerts, the Portfest will also offer a bass fishing tournament, 5k walk/run, a kids' fishing derby, two-person golf scramble, talent contest and horseshoe pitching contest.
There will also carnival rides, horse rides, inflatables, a petting zoo, trackless train rides and more.
