Student's artwork to be exhibited

 

Amanda Burchfield of Paragould will open her senior art show at Williams Baptist College with a reception on Monday, October 22, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. in the Maddox Center gallery.

The exhibition, entitled “Hand Made” is comprised of work Burchfield has done while a student at WBC.  It includes her work with oil on canvas, ceramics, prints and mosaics.

The Williams Baptist College Theatre Department will perform Kindertransport by Diane Samuels on Friday and Saturday, November 2 and 3. The play will begin at 7 p.m. both days and will be held in WBC's Old Chapel.

There will be a whole lot of rocking and rolling going on when Depot Days rolls into downtown Newport on Saturday, September 29.

The annual event pays tribute to the “rich musical history of Jackson County” and Rock n’ Roll Highway 67, when such stars as Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley kept the highway hot traveling from one venue to another in their quests to become international superstars.

Several events planned for Hispanic Heritage Month celebration

 

National Hispanic Heritage Month begins Saturday, September 15, and runs through October 15.

To celebrate, Arkansas State University’s Multicultural Center has planned several events.

On Monday, September 17, an art exhibit by Maria Villegas of El Dorado will open at the Multicultural Center.  Titled “Stage Impromptus,” the exhibit will be on display through Friday, October 12.

Guitar Walk opens this Saturday

Guitar Walk opens this Saturday

 

The Guitar Walk at Cavenaugh Park, a unique tribute to the history of rockabilly music, opens Saturday in Walnut Ridge. The ribbon will be cut at 3 p.m. for the tourist attraction, located along Hwy. 67 next to the Iron Mountain Depot.
