Students receive hands-on history lesson

Fourth graders from Valley View and Black Rock left their classrooms for an up-close and personal history lesson.

On Monday, May 20, the students attended the 4th Annual Arkansas Territorial Days at Davidsonville Historic State Park near Pocahontas.

During the two-day event the students learned about early games, dancing, chores, slavery, spinning and weaving, early transportation and more.

Usually as many as 600 students attend the annual event.  However, due to Tuesday’s weather, not all schools were able to attend.
