Every week the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas provides emergency food assistance to 5,100 people.  Since 1983, the Food Bank has distributed more than 25 million pounds of food.

Now the Food Bank has a new facility to meet the demands of feeding the hungry.

On Wednesday state and local officials, including Gov. Mike Beebe, attended the grand opening ceremony of the Food Bank’s new $8 million 56,000 square foot facility.

The Rice Depot charity in Little Rock recently received a special delivery from Williams Baptist College.

Several students and faculty members delivered thousands of diapers to the charity, then helped pack a large shipment of bread for the needy.

In October the WBC chapter of Phi Beta Lambda, a society for business students, conducted a diaper drive in Jonesboro.  The students collected 1,620 diapers and 5,572 wet-wipes during an 8-hour period.
