Sheriff: Man sold stolen chainsaw to wrong customer | Crime
A Ravenden man faces theft charges after investigators say he sold a stolen chainsaw to the victim's neighbor.
On Saturday, March 23, Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies arrested 27-year-old Bradley Calfas.
He’s accused of breaking into a cabin on County Road 140 in January and stealing several items, including a chainsaw.
According to a news release from Sheriff Jody Dotson, a neighbor heard Calfas had some items for sale and went to check them out.
The neighbor bought the stolen chainsaw and took it to the owner who still had the original paperwork and positively identified it using the serial number, Sheriff Dotson said.
The information was turned over to the sheriff's office and a warrant was issued for Calfas' arrest.
Calfas is currently being held in the Lawrence County Jail on theft of property charges awaiting a bond hearing.
