Man accused of breaking into store | Crime
Sheriff Jody Dotson says a Lawrence County man faces a long list of charges after he broke into a convenience store then led deputies on a foot chase.
On Tuesday, April 16, Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies arrested 21-year-old Benjamin Walker of Strawberry.
According to an email from Sheriff Dotson, the arrest came after a concerned citizen called his department to report a suspicious person “messing around the old Shelia’s Quick Shop” in Lynn.
When deputies arrived they found Walker at the building, Dotson said. When asked what he was doing, the sheriff said Walker “took off running.”
Deputies chased Walker for some distance before catching him, Dotson reported. He said when deputies returned to the store they discovered where Walker had broken into the building.
Walker was arrested and charged with breaking and entering, criminal mischief, criminal trespass, fleeing and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing.
