Sheriff: Woman confessed to stripping copper from home | Crime
A Lawrence County woman is behind bars after investigators say she broke into a house and stole the copper.
Cammie Joseph, 24, of Sedgwick is charged with theft of property and breaking and entering.
Her arrest comes after a man reported an empty house had been broken into and the copper wiring had been stripped, Sheriff Jody Dotson said.
Deputies checked local scrap yards and found the missing copper along with some other items.
Workers reportedly told deputies Joseph had sold them the scrap.
After she was taken into custody and read her Miranda rights, Dotson said Joseph confessed to breaking into the house and taking the items.
She is being held in the Lawrence County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
