Boat trade ends in arrest after seller gets 'bad feeling' | Crime
A Region 8 man is behind bars, accused of trying to trade a stolen 4-wheeler for a boat.
Keith Collins, 24, of Hoxie was arrested for theft by receiving, according to an email from Lawrence County Sheriff Jody Dotson.
Collins was arrested after a Lynn resident called the sheriff’s office with concerns over the trade.
The boat owner said Collins offered to trade a Honda Rancher for the boat. Collins left the ATV with the man to “look at,” the sheriff said.
The boat owner noticed the ignition wires had been cut and told the sheriff’s office he had a “bad feeling” about the vehicle.
Upon further inspection, investigators learned the ATV had been stolen out of Sharp County, Dotson said.
A warrant was issued for Collins’ arrest.
He is currently being held in the Lawrence County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court on Sept. 30.
