Sheriff: Man arrested after offering to sell meth to officers | Crime
A Jonesboro man is locked up in the Lawrence County Jail after investigators say he offered to sell meth to an undercover officer.
James Thomas Morgan, 34, is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (meth), possession of a controlled substance (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, use of a communication device to commit a felony and fleeing in a vehicle.
Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies, along with Hoxie police officers, arrested Morgan following an undercover narcotics operation in Sedgwick, Sheriff Jody Dotson stated in an email.
The sheriff said on Tuesday Morgan met with an informant and an undercover officer and offered to sell them meth.
When officers tried to arrest him, Morgan sped off in his vehicle.
Dotson said Morgan tried to hit several patrol cars during the chase before he was stopped.
Morgan is currently being held in jail awaiting a bond hearing.
