Sheriff: Man accused of church break-in "looking for place to sleep"

There may be a good reason why William Lester, 19, of Black Rock looks so glum.  On Tuesday, March 13, Lawrence County sheriff's deputies arrested and charged him with breaking into a church.

According to Sheriff Jody Dotson, on or about Saturday, March 10, someone kicked in the back door of the Black Rock Assembly of God Church.

During the investigation, Dotson says Lester became a person of interest.  While being questioned by deputies, the sheriff says Lester admitted to breaking into the church.

He told investigators he was "drunk and looking for a place to sleep," according to Sheriff Dotson.

Lester is charged with commercial burglary, criminal trespass and criminal mischief.  He is being held in the Lawrence County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
