Two arrested for failing to register as sex offenders

According to the Sex Offender Registration Act of 1997, anyone who has been convicted of certain sex offenses must register as a sex offender in the state of Arkansas.

Last week Lawrence County sheriff's deputies arrested two men for failing to comply with that law.

Sheriff Jody Dotson says deputies from his office tried by phone and in person to contact 22-year-old Bryan Morgan of Imboden and 45-year-old Earl Wayne Day of Smithville.  They were unable to contact either man, Dotson says.

Warrants were issued for both men.  On Monday, March 26, deputies arrested Day.  The following day they picked up Morgan, according to the sheriff.

Both men were charged with failure to register and ordered held in lieu of $5,000 bond each.

Both men are due in Lawrence County Circuit Court on April 25.
