Man accused of torching neighbor's carport

A Strawberry man faces arson charges after Lawrence County sheriff's deputies say he set a neighbor's carport on fire.

On Saturday, April 28, a woman called the sheriff's office to report her neighbor, 20-year-old Timothy Scott Cannon, Jr., had torched her carport.  A deputy, who was working the drug take back in Strawberry, arrived at the scene within minutes.  Together he and the woman doused the fire using five-gallon buckets of water.

According to Sheriff Jody Dotson, a recliner, bicycle and a 2006 Volkswagen Beetle were damaged in the fire.

After the Lynn Fire Department arrived and made sure the fire was out, the deputy arrested Cannon on arson charges.  He was taken to the Lawrence County Jail to await a bond hearing.

According to Sheriff Dotson, neighbors said they've had problems with Cannon in the past.
