Women arrested on meth charges | Crime
A Lawrence County woman faces drug charges after investigators reportedly found meth hidden inside her body.
On Tuesday, Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies arrested 48-year-old Shelly Summitt of Walnut Ridge and 40-year-old Anna Doyle of Black Rock on possession of a controlled substance (meth Ice) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to Sheriff Jody Dotson, the arrests followed a traffic stop near Powhatan. When the deputy ran a check on the subjects, he learned they had suspended driver’s licenses. Summitt was also on probation and Doyle was free on a felony bond.
Summitt reportedly told the deputy she had methamphetamine and proceeded to pull out two bags of the drug and handed them to the deputy, Sheriff Dotson said.
According to the sheriff, Summitt then told the deputy Doyle also had meth hidden inside her reproductive system.
Both women were then arrested and taken to the Lawrence County Jail where a jail matron searched Doyle and reportedly found a bag meth hidden inside her body.
Doyle and Summitt are currently awaiting a bond hearing.
