Second man arrested in stolen debit card case

A Black Rock man is behind bars after Lawrence County Sheriff Jody Dotson says he was caught on camera using a stolen debit card.

On Tuesday, February 12, deputies arrested 32-year-old Jacob Douglas Gokey on theft of property charges.

Gokey and another man, 21-year-old William Clay Lester, are accused of stealing a debit card from an area resident and using it to withdraw $2,500 from the victim’s bank account.

Sheriff Dotson said “investigators pulled video footage from Black Rock area businesses that show Gokey using the debit card.”

Lester was arrested on Thursday, January 31, after investigators say he was videotaped using the card to withdraw cash from an ATM.

Both men are currently in the Lawrence County Jail.  They’re scheduled to appear in Circuit Court on March 14.
