Sheriff Jody Dotson says an Alicia man was arrested Tuesday after admitting to investigators he traded prescription painkillers for meth.

Tommy Wilson, 34, is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sheriff Dotson said deputies and DCC probation officers conducted a home visit after receiving tips from concerned citizens about “suspicious traffic at the residence.”

A Black Rock man is behind bars after investigators say he tried to swallow a bag of meth.

According to Lawrence County Sheriff Jody Dotson, a deputy went to the home of 38-year-old Jeremy Gilliam on Monday to investigate reports of possible drug activity.

While talking to the deputy, Gilliam reportedly reached into his pocket and placed something in his mouth.

When the deputy told Gilliam to spit it out, Sheriff Dotson said “Gilliam took off running.”  During the chase, Gilliam reportedly threw something onto the ground.

Lawrence County Sheriff Jody Dotson says a man charged with stealing a debit card was caught on camera using it to withdraw cash from an ATM.

William Clay Lester, 21, of Black Rock was arrested Thursday on charges of theft of property.

Lester is accused of stealing a Black Rock resident’s debit card and withdrawing $2,500 from their account.

According to the sheriff, a check of the bank records revealed the transactions occurred at a local ATM.  When investigators viewed the machine’s security video they reportedly recognized Lester using the card.
