A Region 8 woman found sleeping in a pickup truck got a rude awakening when police arrested her.

Around 3:15 p.m. Thursday, Jonesboro police were dispatched to Bill’s Fresh Market at 725 East Johnson.

When officers arrived they found 49-year-old Bettina J. Irving asleep in a red 1997 Isuzu Excel pickup truck. 

According to Officer Shane Fox’s report, a check of the license plate number revealed the truck had been stolen in Lawrence County.  Fox said the Hoxie Police Department confirmed the truck was stolen.

An Annieville couple faces multiple charges, including child endangerment, after investigators say they found a large amount of drugs and guns in their home.

On Thursday, Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies arrested 36-year-old Dwight Nunnally and 23-year-old Tiffany McCain at a home on Clear Springs Road.

According to Sheriff Jody Dotson, deputies were serving an arrest warrant on Nunnally, who was wanted for battery, aggravated assault and terrorist threatening, when they reportedly found the drugs and guns.

Lawrence County Sheriff Jody Dotson is asking for the public’s help in finding the culprits who vandalized the Sloan-Hendrix gymnasium.

School officials discovered the damage Saturday morning.

According to the sheriff, the vandals sprayed the gym with fire extinguishers and wrote profanities in the powder.  Several mirrors and bathroom fixtures were also damaged.

Suspected truck thief arrested while driving stolen pickup

 

A Lawrence County man wanted for stealing a pickup truck earlier this week is behind bars in Randolph County after deputies there spotted him driving the truck.

Branigan Kyle Stacy of Imboden is charged with felony forgery, misdemeanor fleeing, misdemeanor driving on suspended license and misdemeanor theft of property in Randolph County.

He faces even more charges in Lawrence County.

According to Sheriff Jody Dotson, Stacy stole a 2009 Chevy Colorado from a home in the 200-block of West 4th St. in Imboden on Tuesday afternoon.

UPDATE: Baxter Co. murder victim identified

UPDATE:  Baxter Co. murder victim identified

 

A man found dead in a Baxter County home has been identified as 20-year-old Roy Lee Hogans of Strawberry.

On Wednesday night Hogans’ body was discovered at a home in the 1200-blcok of Highway 178 West.

According to Sheriff John Montgomery, he had been stabbed more than once.

On Thursday, deputies served search warrants at three residences in the Midway area and collected evidence, the sheriff said. 

Several people have been interviewed, but so far no arrests have been made.

Tips lead to Most Wanted arrest

 

One of Lawrence County’s most wanted is back bars, thanks to some observant citizens.

Thomas Wayne Ashcraft, Jr. of Cave City was wanted for revocation of probation on theft of property and breaking and entering charges.

Sheriff Jody Dotson says his department received email tips that Ashcraft was working at a Cave City business.

Acting on those tips, deputies arrested Ashcraft on Thursday and transported him back to Lawrence County to face his charges.  He’s scheduled to appear in Circuit Court on January 15, 2013.
