Woman charged with DWI-4, auto theft after hitting train

 

A Lawrence County woman faces a variety of charges, including driving while intoxicated (DWI) and auto theft, after investigators say she drove a car into a passing train.

According to Sheriff Jody Dotson, a deputy stopped at a train crossing reportedly saw a 2001 Chevy Camaro driven by Amanda Graves, 29, of Hoxie driven into a passing train.

When the deputy went to check on Graves he “noticed a strong odor of alcohol.”  Graves, who told the deputy she was not injured, reportedly admitted she had been drinking.

Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Powhatan woman Friday on burglary charges.

Sherry Rutherford, 33, is charged with residential burglary, theft of property and criminal trespass.

According to Sheriff Jody Dotson, Rutherford is suspected of stealing several hundred dollars worth of tools from a home on County Road 247.

During their investigation, deputies reportedly found many of the items had been sold to local pawn shops.  Sheriff Dotson said pawn records showed Rutherford “had been the one who had pawned the items.”

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office needs the public’s help finding Donovan Jones.  

The 27-year-old Lynn man is suspected of breaking into a Strawberry home on Wednesday and stealing a large amount of property, including several guns, ammunition and a hunting bow.

According to Sheriff Jody Dotson, witnesses said they last saw Jones with a small handgun.  A Ruger .380 caliber gun is still missing from the burglary.

Sheriff Dotson told Region 8 News Jones may be in the Batesville area.  He has asked Independence County authorities to be on the lookout.

An undercover drug purchase by Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies ended with an Imboden couple in jail.

On Wednesday, deputies arrested 35-year-old James Mandera and 44-year-old Melanie Mandera on the following charges:

Lawrence County Sheriff Jody Dotson has a message for parolees and probationers:  violate the terms of your probation and you’ll end up in jail.

This weekend deputies arrested three people for revoking their warrants.

Douglas Hight, 23, of Jonesboro was arrested on a revocation warrant for residential burglary.

While 25-year-old Jennifer Holtdorf of Rockford, Illinois, was arrant for a warrant revocation for possession of a controlled substance.

Cross-dressing shoplifter accused of stealing women's clothes

 

A man dressed as a woman is locked up in the Craighead County Detention Center, accused of shoplifting women’s clothing.

According to police, 20-year-old Dramell D. Payne of Jonesboro was dressed in women’s clothing when an employee of Target, 3000 E. Highland, observed him two tank tops and a dress into the purse he was carrying.

The employee detained Payne when he attempted to leave the store without paying for the items.
