Rockabilly Run rumbles into Walnut Ridge this weekend

Bikers from all across Your Region 8 will be rumbling into Lawrence County this weekend.

The annual Rockabilly Run will be held Saturday, June 22, at Cox PowerSports on Highway 63 in Walnut Ridge.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the first bike out at 10.  The ride will end at Beatles Park.

The ride fee is $20 per hand and $5 for each additional hand.  There will be prizes for best and worst hands with a grand prize drawing at 5:30 p.m.

Juneteenth celebration this Saturday

The Eddie Mae Herron Center and Black River Technical College will host a Juneteenth celebration this Saturday, June 15.

The daylong event will start at 8 a.m. at the center, which is located at 1708 Archer St. in Pocahontas.

The day’s events will include various historic games, car and tractor shows, a quilt show, cake walks and tours of the Rice-Upshaw House and Looney Tavern.

A bar-be-cue lunch will be served.

Everyone is invited to bring their lawn chairs and enjoy the day.

Today from 7 to 10 a.m. St. Bernards Health & Wellness will sponsor free health screenings.

The screenings will include total cholesterol, anemia, glucose, blood pressure and body mass index.

The Health & Wellness Institute is located at 1416 East Matthews Ave.

Hospital auxiliary hosting benefit singing

The Lawrence Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will host a benefit singing this Saturday, June 15, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Walnut Ridge Community Room.

In addition to an evening of music and entertainment, there will be a silent auction and a $100 door prize. 

Admissions is by donation.
