Air Field turns 70 in Walnut Ridge | News
WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT)- Walnut Ridge is celebrating its Air Field's 70th birthday this weekend.
Events are taking place Friday and Saturday at the Wings of Honor Museum to commemorate the history of the airfield.
The Wings of Honor Museum President, Harold Johnson, says, "This airfield played an important role in World War II, then after the war...we were a temporary POW camp for some German prisoners."
The celebration included on Friday an evening dinner and continues Saturday morning at nine with more food, tours, and a silent auction.
