Three people from Corning were hospitalized Friday morning after the car they were riding in slammed into a tractor.
According to Lawrence County Sheriff Jody Dotson, the crash happened shortly before 9 a.m. on Highway 67 in Alicia.
The driver of the car reportedly fell asleep, ran off the road and slammed into the tractor. The impact was so great, according to Sheriff Dotson, it turned the tractor “almost completely around.”
One person was thrown from the car and two others were trapped inside. Sheriff Dotson stated it took crews nearly an hour to cut the driver out of the vehicle.
All three victims were taken to St. Bernards Hospital. Their names and conditions have not yet been released.
The Hoxie and Walnut Ridge Fire Departments responded to the scene, as well as Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies, AET Ambulance and Arkansas State Police.
The ASP is currently investigating the crash.
