Workshop to explain how to "Get a New Business Started Right"

If you’re thinking of starting a business in Arkansas, then the Arkansas State University Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) has the workshop for you.

On Tuesday, June 4, the SBTDC, along with the Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Jonesboro Association, will host a workshop for start-up businesses from 6 until 8:30 p.m. at the ASU Delta Center for Economic Development.

“Starting a Business in Arkansas: How to Get a New Business Started Right” is aimed at anyone considering starting a new business.

Autopsy report for Sidney Randall could take months

LAWRENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – The body of missing 14-year-old Sidney Randall has been found and identified by the Arkansas State Crime Lab.

The Walnut Ridge Police Department held a press conference Monday afternoon confirming that it was Randall's body that was found Saturday.

The cause of death is still being investigated. Lawrence County authorities say they're waiting for an autopsy report on the cause of death.

EAAA hosting "Aging with Knowledge Conference"

The Second Annual Aging with Knowledge Conference, sponsored by the East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging, will be held Thursday, June 6.  This year’s topic is “Stress and You and What to Do.”

Registration will begin at 8 a.m.  The conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas, 3414 One Place in Jonesboro.

Among the topics on the agenda are:  The Importance of Relaxation, Prescription Drug Interactions and Management, and Chronic Disease Self Help Management.  There will also be chair yoga and Tai Chi demonstrations.

Summer Safety Health Fair set for Saturday

The Community Healthcare Center in Walnut Ridge will hold a Summer Safety Health Fair on Saturday, June 1, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the clinic parking lot at 201 Colonial Dr.

A number of local community organizations will be participating, including the Walnut Ridge Fire and Police Departments, Lawrence Co. Game and Fish Commission, Walnut Ridge Armory and City Pool, and Braces by Burris.

There will be booths set up to discuss and provide useful information on water, fire, ATV and bicycle safety; as well as skin cancer awareness and prevention.

Police: Hoxie woman caught with meth after citizen tip

LAWRENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – A Hoxie woman is booked for meth
after police receive tip.

On Tuesday, a concerned citizen contacted Lawrence County Deputies
about 42-year-old Tracy Bennett. The informant told police that Bennett was
selling and using methamphetamine in her home.

Lawrence County deputies, along with the Hoxie Police Department
went to Bennett's home. Police say she gave officers permission to search her
home.

Police say they found meth and items used to ingest the substance.
