U.S. Senator Mark Pryor will hold his first-ever Facebook Town Hall on Thursday, March 7, to reach out to Arkansans about their legislative priorities for 2013.

Constituents can submit and view questions on Pryor’s website and Facebook.

ASU to host Congressional debate

 

Arkansas State University’s Department of Political Science is joining with the ASU Radio-Television Department and the Jonesboro Sun to host a debate between the candidates vying for office in the Arkansas First Congressional District, Thursday, Oct. 25, from 6:30-8 p.m.

Dr. Richard Wang, associate professor of Political Science, said all four candidates have accepted invitations to participate.

You could see a few more orange barrels on Arkansas roads.

That’s if voters approve Constitution Amendment Issue #1 when they head to the polls on November 6.

Issue #1 would use a temporary half-cent sales tax increase to finance a $1.3 billion bond issue for the construction of four-lane highways in the state.

Craig Douglass is the campaign coordinator for Issue #1. On Thursday he was in Jonesboro drumming up support for the measure.

Congressional Farm Bill hearing to be held at ASU

 

Before Congress begins work on the 2012 Farm Bill, the House Agriculture Committee plans to host four public hearings around the country. 

One of those hearings will be held Friday, March 30, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Fowler Center at Arkansas State University, 201 Olympic Dr. in Jonesboro.

Congressman Rick Crawford will host the hearing, which will include House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas and other committee members.
