Find them and more this Saturday, May 11, at the annual marble show in the Holiday Inn banquet room in Jonesboro.

Antique marbles of all types will be on display. Experts will also be on hand to identify and appraise all marbles, free of charge.

UPDATE: Hoxie FD bass tournament postponed

The Hoxie Volunteer Fire Department's 11th Annual Bass Tournament, scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed due to inclement weather.

Department officials tell Your Region 8 the tournament will be held sometime this fall.

They will announce the new date at a later time.

Sharp shooter Christy Steele signs with WBC Lady Eagles Basketball

Head Coach Carol Halford and the Williams Baptist College Lady Eagles basketball team have received a signed commitment from Christy Steele. Steele is from Big Rock, Tenn., and will graduate from Stewart County High School in May.

The sharp shooter plans to study Physical Education at Williams. She averaged 10 points per game and carried a high school grade point average of 3.7.

"I believe Christy is the perimeter shooter that will best fit our needs this season. She not only handles the ball well, she is a great passer and can really shoot the three," said Halford.

WBC Baseball signs Dalton Freshour from West Plains

Dalton Freshour has signed his commitment to attend and play baseball for Williams Baptist College. Freshour will graduate from West Plains High School in May.

The southpaw has been a starting pitcher for the last three years on his high school varsity squad. He received All-Ozark Conference honors as a junior. He is 6'3'' and has also been an All-State basketball player for the Zizzers.

He is the son of Archie and Rhonda Freshour.

Fourth ranked Lady Eagles Softball set to defend AMC Tournament Title starting Friday

For the fourth time in four years the Lady Eagles softball team from Williams Baptist College has won the American Midwest Conference championship. On Friday, April 26, the team will embark on its quest for a second consecutive AMC tournament championship.

Williams will host Harris-Stowe State University at the Lady Eagles softball field in a best-of-three series. The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday, beginning at 2 p.m. If a third game is required, it will begin at noon on Saturday, April 27.

ASU student nurses hosting Trot 4 Tots benefit run

Run or walk.  Either way The ASU Student Nurses Association hopes you will at least “Trot 4 Tots.”

The organization will host the second annual Trot 4 Tots 5k Run/Walk on Saturday, April 27, at Craighead Forest Park, Pavilion One, in Jonesboro.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the new St. Bernards Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
